Leg Analysis:
S-1. The block with 1 and 2 was felled. Tried to not let this distract me. Stopped slightly early, quick adjustment and into the control.
-2. Short leg, good direction, well executed.
-3. Tried to spot a distant feature to aim for. Found the hill just south of the control, ran to that and then readjusted to the control. Trying a new technique here, could have just used compass but tried taking Matts advice.
-4. Good direction, knoll didn't exist, a little hesitation at the control while lining everything else up to make sure I was right.
-5. Solid. Could have had better contact, but was still where I wanted to be.
-6. The plan was to go straight. Found myself pulling right out of the control due to the shape of the dunes. Decided to keep this direction and hit the track. Good execution once back in the terrain. Good map contact.
-7. Good direction, hesitating in circle making sure I was correct.
-8. Same again, uncertain if I went far enough. Was in a clearing, right shape, with a hill.
-9. Almost fucked my shoulder up really bad when I fell and caught myself on a tree. Rattled me, lost contact. Headed for a hill top and relocate from there. Bit of extra distance but happy to have composed myself quickly.
-10. Back in the zone. In control the whole leg. Spiked.
-11. Good direction, aggression, slowed down when it got techy. Spike.
-12. Bail to track on rough compass, get through the green and lock in from there. Running strong at this stage.
-13. Short leg, hard to fuck up. Didn't.
-14. Confidence high at this point. Flowing nicely, tracks helped at the start but once off them felt super confident.
-15. Pulled left, a lot. Looked like some kind of old track and once I hit a mapped one I was really confused. Eventually relocated, from there it was fine, but lost a lot of time. Really silly mistake. Had been flowing nicely, but let my guard down for one second and got punished. Needed better compass out of 14. Too sloppy.
-16. Track.
-17. Compass, spot tree, run to tree.
-18. Run through. Push hard, get into some oxygen debt, read map.
-19. Best leg of the course nav wise. Good direction out of 18 to the track. Pushed hard along the path. Had good confidence heading back into the terrain. Slowed myself to read detail, straight to the control.
-20. Reading map more at this point, it helped. Really pushing physically on this last loop of the course and flowing nicely.
-21. Chose left to avoid the undulations. Spotted the green, spike.
-22. Track, compass to fence, read detail in the circle. It just worked.
-23. I was uncertain what features to use. Didn't trust the tracks, or the green. Contours were hard to read. Just trusted my compass and eventually it started to line up. Spike.
-24. Recognized course was ending soon. Increased physicality. Spike.
-25. Stayed on track for as long as I could. Pushed hard, but keeping solid map contact all the way through the dunes to the control. Trying really hard to convert 2d to 3d here. Map to terrain.
-26. Give it everything. Stay sensible with the nav. Spike control.
-F. Run like the wind.
