With Mats Ogdén and Chris Forne. We were a bit beaten by the crown fern and the darkness. West of the big swamp is excellent terrain.

RUGGED. The course was always going to be a bit optimistic I think, but you never know with a new area... Very thick with crown fern from about 3/4 of the way to 2, so I abandoned the northern loop. Then again after 14, so I skipped 15. The area around 1 and 13 is excellent. Quite vague terrain but the contours have come up really well on the map. No. 11 was very tricky, quite low vis. Lost contact a few times.

Awesome area, fantastically open forest. Fairly tricky compass work at the start. Lots of crown fern around 2 and 3, was a bit slow.
